When you visit a library, the first thing you need is a library card. This allows you to borrow items. To find a specific book, use the online catalogue. It will give you a call number, which tells you exactly where to look in the stacks.

Books are usually divided into fiction (made-up stories) and non-fiction (facts and information). If you are looking for current news, check the periodical section for recent magazines. If you only want to look at a book inside the building, visit the reference section. These books cannot be taken home.

In the modern library, you can also access an e-book or use the computer lab for research. If you need to study in silence, find a designated quiet zone. These areas are perfect for deep focus away from the busier entrance.

When you are finished with your items, you must return them by the due date. If you need more time, you can often renew the loan online. If you are late, you might have to pay fines. If the book you want is already out, you can place a hold on it. Don't forget to ask the librarian if you need any help!
